I mentioned this before, but sales manager Ardith has an automatic search for any and all blogs related to Broccoli Books titles.

So she found this new blog written by a librarian, who talked about manga ratings & how she agrees or disagrees w/ them.

Librarian Ship: S.S. Gliteratti - Manga Rating

Galaxy Angel is mentioned in the blog.
We gave Galaxy Angel a suggested reading age of 13 and up.

And she more or less agrees w/ the rating, except for one “naked Barbie” in vol 5.

I didn’t think Kanan would have drawn a fully naked girl in Galaxy Angel, so I dug around. The page mentioned (Galaxy Angel vol 5, pg 71-72) has Forte in a bathing suit.

Hmm.
I thought there were more questionable pages than Forte in a bathing suit.
But I’m not going to point them out.

Galaxy Angel doesn’t have nudity, though.
It has a lot to do w/ the fact that the staff of Broccoli Japan’s comic department are mostly female (used to be 100% female, but the new manager KenKen-san is a guy), and they don’t like nude scenes. Or anything too ecchi.

It’s that thin, thin line between what’s considered kawaii & moe.
Although I often use moe to refer to cute things these days.

Hm, does KenKen-san then = Kazuya (lone male in the Rune Angel Troupe)?

No, they’re referring to the manager in the comic department of BROCCOLI. This is discussing to the staff of BROCCOLI, not the crew of GA.

And anyhow, the original Angel-tai didn’t have any males actually in it, but they were still surrounded by the male crew members (Tact, Lester, Kuromie, etc.)

As for the actual entry, I don’t see what their issue is. Frankly, this “barbie nudity” as she calls it is no different from a kid actually staring at a barbie doll. If they want to call that out, then they better start pulling a lot of dolls of the shelves along with manga. I find the manga ratings decent and sometimes too high then they should be. If I’m not mistaken, Kashimashi is 13+ and I’m amazed they didn’t mention that, not only nudity there but also the concept in general.

    Likkun > I know. I was joking.

Kazuya is the only boy in the Rune Angel Troupe, KenKen-san is the only male in the comic department @ broccoli. ^_^

I’m familiar with the series. *laugh* I work here.

Haha, sorry. I have a tendency to misread comments so I didn’t notice exactly what you said there. I also missed you name in the article when I was reading it over for he first time, so it was only natural for me to make a mistake.
