Hello, long time no post.
This is blogger Shiz as usual.
I’ve been busy w/ a lot of non-production related things, so I haven’t been able to post here. But I do write on the Industry Babble blog.
Anyhoo, we were contacted by some customers & also from our distributor that there was a binding error on Nui vol 1. It seems like page 38 is doubled up, and page 34 is missing?
We’re checking to see how widespread the binding error is (maybe certain batches, or the entire production), and it’s likely we’ll have a recall on the books. We’re not sure how it’ll be handled, although it’ll be impossible for our office to handle the returns, so we’ll probably ask bookstores to handle it for us.
When I get more information from our distributor & printer, I’ll post information here.
And send out a mailing list mailer.
I was cleaning up our marketing supply closet & found a box of autographed manga. So I’ll probably give them away on the mailing list. They’re old books (like Galaxy Angel vol 1), but who’d complain about free stuff, right?
Production updates?
I have none at this time.
Freelance editor Hope dropped by with Nui vol 2, but I haven’t looked it over yet… so maybe I’ll have her write a blog entry for me.

My copy of Nui! volume 1 has the same misprint. I ordered from JustManga.
And since I’m posting here anyway… is there any hope for a KAMUI volumes 10 + 11 update any time in the near future?

seriously why are broccoli bothering to putting out more series’s when they can’t finish the ones that they already have….
when are we going to get an update on kamui and E’s? at the end of the month it’ll be a YEAR since the last volume of E’s.
it’s a shame, i may have bought Nui if it wasn’t for delays on the other titles.

I’m still holding my breath for the rest of galaxy angel II and galaxy angel party, as well as disgea 2. don’t get me started on di gi charat. I wonder if broccoli books is okay financialy,it seems like something slammed the brakes on all of their titles. I still love broccoli but this is getting scary.

I’m going to be a stinker and sigh for the zillionth time about the abuse the Di Gi Charat series has taken. So sad.
Good luck on the Nui recalls. I’ll probably buy it eventually.

Are we EVER going to see Cigarette Kisses? Or are you going to give us a load of steaming crap about production delays and staffing issues? If you couldn’t put it out, why’d you bother licensing it and getting our hopes up?

Geez…calm down. You’re not the only one that is waiting for a particular book to come out. I think everyone that’s responding to this blog is. Just wait patiently, read some manga online or whatever, when the publishing company is ready to release that title they will. All companies are suffering right now no matter what field they’re in so I doubt that the production delays and staffing issues aren’t a “load of steaming crap” but real life problems that Broccoli is going through.

Well, so much for that?

well, astraea, you won’t have to worry about them starting more series and not finishing! it was announced that broccoli usa is closing shop. which means, sadly for all of us, not getting to see what happens in kamui and for all of us who like yaoi as well, not getting to see the books they had licensed and not published yet! this sucks wide!
November 20th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Is that really true? They haven’t announced that yet on their blog. I’d wait to see if that is confirmed on their site or one of the editors posts it on the blog.

it’s in their japanese blog and on several us blogs now.

Thanks. I just looked on their blog this morning and it confirms. It’s so sad… hopefully all the workers there will get other successful jobs and the unfinished books will be quickly licensed by someone else.

Does anyone know how long Nui! will stay in stores and/or online stores since Broccoli is closing? Even if there’s a page missing, I still would like to get a copy of it until it is relicensed.

I also got one with the misprint…is anything going to be done? I thought it was strange to see that page twice…
May 3rd, 2009 at 12:37 pm
I totally agree…. (just need to say that) but I also think that it was good that just some of the books had the misprint, and that it was just 2 pages. I bought a book just recently were they had forgotten a whole chapter. I thought about why the book seemed shorter at first, but I didn’t think they would do something that stupid! (I emailed them, and they just said nothing could be done, and I just needed to live with it) But I read it on onemanga, so in the end it was okay. But don’t drag that much about 2 pages…okay?
May 4th, 2009 at 4:30 am
Yep. I totally agree with you. I have a Nui! with the same misprint, but I can infer what’s going on within those misprinted two pages so it’s not too bad. Besides, at least having a copy of Nui! (and a misprinted one with that) kind of makes it a collector’s item, right? Somewhat like when those two Beanie Babies had each other’s tags and their collecting prices skyrocketed several years. That’s how I see it…
By the way, what publisher ripped you off an entire chapter? If your book was the only one of the few misprinted ones, I’d petitioned to have a recall. But if it’s one that’s misprinted and also a dropped title, don’t know what you could do for that…
