Hi this is Yukiko!
We received the color materials for My Dearest Devil Princess Volumes 3, 4 and 6. Oh, by the way, we have received all of the color materials for volume 5.
There were a few missing files for our color materials for volumes 3, 4 and 6, so we asked the staff in Japan to send us the missing files. We were missing a few pink layer files. Let me explain what “pink layer” is since Designer Chris explained in details.
When we get cover materials, we sometimes get files that look like inverted grayscale images along with our color files. These inverted images are used to print an extra ink to go along with the standard 4 color process. Designer Chris calls this “pink layer” since the color of the ink is usually pink. Without the pink layer a skin tone tends to look more yellow-ish, and that is not good. The pink layer tells the printer what parts of the image to add more or less pink ink.
In the US, we almost always print using only 4 colors, so Designer Chris takes the pink layer file and somehow combines it with the normal color file to make the color more closer to the Japanese cover. It’s not perfect, but it’s much better than yellow-ish skin! That’s why it’s important to also have the pink layer.

Hello, my name is Yukiko!
From today, I will announce and update production works here.
Since this is my first entry, I will introduce myself a little bit.
I came to the US when I was four years old with my parents.
Since they wanted me to keep the Japanese language skills, I went to Japanese school until middle school.
It was kind of hard to go to two schools because I also went to the regular American school here too, but I was able to make all kinds of friends in both schools so it was not as bad.
By thinking about my Japanese skills, I was able to keep up by reading Japanese manga all of my life.
By knowing two languages, I’ve always wanted to do a job that I can use both Japanese and English.
And I love Japanese manga, so I am happy that I can work here at Broccoli!
I will do my best to help out the company to bring a lot of Japanese manga to the US.
For Broccoli Books, I have many favorite titles too.
Right now, my favorite is E’S!
Yuuki is my favorite character :)
I read both Japanese and English version for this one.
Right now I am working on the translations for NUI Volume 1.
It is very cute manga, so I am having fun translating it.
Thank you for reading.
I will contnue to update this blog.
