My laptop had trouble booting up this week & had to be sent in for some repair and recovery. It contains my life, so I was soul-less for the past week.

Thus I couldn’t post anything on the blog the whole week.

My laptop been fixed.
And 99% of my files were recovered.
So back to work.

The 1% that’s gone?
Some non-work-essential files. Like photos of my cat. (cry)

It’s the $5.99 pie time of the year.

We didn’t have an end of the month party for September (kinda got too busy), so we decided to have a middle of the month pie party. Plus we gotta take full advantage of the $5.99 pie month!

So we had a poll for what pies to get.
I hate bananas.

Designer Chris requested for banana cream, even though he figured he wouldn’t get it.
I hate bananas.

Production assistant Krystal said she also likes banana cream.
I hate bananas.

Retail operations manager Dennis said “Those sound good to me.”
I hate bananas.

But I gave in and let them get one banana cream pie.
I hate bananas.

The other pies were kahlua cream cheese and double cream blueberry.
I hate bananas.

Half-eaten pies, cuz I forgot to take a photo before people started digging in.

We received a package from Circus today.
The package said it contained “water,” and the package had a sticker saying it was inspected by the Food & Drug Commission (or some government entity).

We open the package, and there was a case of Eternal Fantasy ice tea.
It’s the new game Circus is releasing in November this year.

The can is really cute!
(photo coming soon)

President Kaname, marketing staffer Jonbo, and I drank 1 can each.
It’s unflavored ice tea.
Strange, since otaku like sweet drinks, even though the rest of Japan doesn’t like sweetened ice tea. Eternal Fantasy is for otaku… so why isn’t it sweet?

Anyhoo, I think it’ll be our next Broccoli Books fan club give-away item.
If I have the time to send out an email…

It’s the end of the month, so it’s our company lunch party day.

I summoned BBQ master Dee to come to the office and cook for us.
And marketing staffer Jonathan (who we call Dee-Two) has a cooking duel with him.
It makes for a very happy stomach among the Broccoli USA staff.

So we had two types of beef (I don’t want to eat meat!) from both chefs. And freelancer Dee made yaki-onigiri and salsa (brought chips). And marketing staffer Jonathan brought roasted peppers, feta cheese w/ olives (bitter!), and a tub of salad.

I just provided chips and drinks and the funds for the BBQ.

I promised to make brownies out of a box. And cookies out of frozen trays. But I got busy talking to the programming staff of dot-anime, so I flaked. But I brought habanero Doritos! Time for the habanero dance! (PS. Habanero-tan is cute)

Just a peek into the fun office life of Broccoli Books.

We did a bit of desk swap-aroo today.

At the Broccoli International offices, we have a small island of desks for the production staff.

I sit at the head of the island.

Designer Chris sits to the left-hand side w/ a Mac desk for graphic assistants.

Editor Samantha sits to the right-hand side w/ a desk for production assistant Krystal.

But we (I) decided that it’d be better to keep editor Samantha & designer Chris side by side. And production assistant Krystal will sit closer to me to do all my random work. Poor production assistant Krystal!

There’s one empty desk… to be filled soon.
Hopefully.

I’m posting about myself…
but happy birthday to me.

I welcome comments.
Just don’t ask me my age.

Today is a double birthday.
Well, every year it’s a double birthday for designer Chris and freelancer S@ki.

Broccoli International has a floating holiday for birthdays (mainly because there are conventions on most of the national holidays), so designer Chris has the day off.

So we’ll probably have cake on Monday.
Although we’ve already had two consecutive mud pies from Trader Joe’s, so I hope we get something new next time. But the mud pie is good.

No, it’s not a new project we’re working on.

One of the Broccoli Int’l employees was selected to participate in the Tyra Banks Show make-over segment & they shot a bit of footage at the Broccoli offices.

The make-over segment is Gamer Girls Turn Sexy.
Or something like that.

We pullled out the Dejiko statue from the Anime Gamers store & displayed it in the office… so maybe Dejiko will make her TV cameo on the Tyra Banks Show.

When we find out the air date of the segment, we’ll post here~

Being a subsidiary of a Japanese company (and operating a retail store), we don’t get long breaks during the holiday season… but we do get a long New Year’s days off.

So we’ll be back on Jan 4.

Have a happy new year!
