We received the color materials for Coyote Ragtime Show vol 3 today.

We’re still debating over what images to use for vol 2 and vol 3 cover, back cover & inserts.

I don’t really like the Lolita girls, but editor Samantha & designer Chris say they are popular. I think I don’t like the outfits they’re wearing. Some Goth-Loli clothes are cute, but these girls aren’t wearing anything that cute. I think I like February(?) only. Is that because I’m a megane moe person?

Meganekko love.

We received the Coyote Ragtime Show vol 2 translation from translator S@ki today.

Coyote Ragtime Show vol 2 has a long bonus manga about the staff at ufotable, the anime production studio that created Coyote Ragtime Show.

Plenty of translation notes to write.

So we were doing the final check for Coyote Ragtime Show vol 1 w/ JIVE, when they told us some surprising news.

Franca’s dad, the pirate king…
His name isn’t Bruce, but is Blues.

In Japanese, it’s written in katakana “Buruusu.”
So if it were any normal English sounding name, it would automatically be Bruce.

But I guess Blues could be written “Buruusu” in katakana, although it’s commonly “Buruuzu.”

Bikkuri, bikkuri.

Good thing we found out before we went to press.
I have to have someone go through the Broccoli Books website to change all references to Bruce/Blues.

We’re just about wrapping up Coyote Ragtime Show vol 1.

It’s very, very, very, very, very unfortunate that we couldn’t get more bonus materials in Coyote Ragtime Show vol 1.

Since there’s an anime series… and the manga is made by the same studio who created the anime series… it just made sense to put character design materials or background set-up materials.

But we ran out of time.

So I regretfully chucked the idea of adding the extra pages… and we’re settling with a 208 page book.
Gomen yo~

But I have plenty of ideas, so Coyote Ragtime Show vol 2 might end up being a thick book.

We received the translated script of E’S vol 4 from translator S@ki today.
So it’s being shipped off to re-writer Elizabeth.

Meanwhile, layout staffer Knuckles is finishing up E’S vol 3 & we should be getting that in sometime next week.

In other production news…
I looked over the draft of Coyote Ragtime Show vol 1. It’s already got a read-through by editor Dee, so I’m just checking the translation & re-write, to make sure the nuances are OK.

But Coyote Ragtime Show is a pretty straight forward manga. Also doesn’t have a whole lot of text to begin with, since it’s a very anime-like manga. Or a storyboard-like manga. Which I guess is reasonable, seeing that manga artist group tartan check is part of the anime production company ufotable.

Next up is going over Disgaea 2 vol 2 and My Dearest Devil Princess vol 1.

Busy, busy~

We received the translation of KAMUI vol 8 from translator S@ki.
So it’s been shipped off to re-writer Elizabeth for script clean up.

But re-writer Elizabeth is currently working on My Dearest Devil Princess vol 1 re-write, so she won’t be able to start on it until next week.

We also received the Coyote Ragtime Show vol 1 script back from re-writer Melissa on Monday.

Kon Kon Kokon vol 1 text insertion is being worked on by layout staffer Knuckles right now.

And translator S@ki is taking over the translation of Disgaea 2 vol 2, since translator Yoshi now works for another anime company. She’s also juggling the translation of Title X.

Oh, and Boysenberry stuff.
Translation for Delivery Cupid is all done & the script is being worked on right now. We also need to finalize the logo design by designer Knuckles, so we can finally show the final cover design.

It’s been a while since I talked about BroccoliBooks.com updates, so a brief re-cap for those who haven’t been keeping up w/ the other site:

My Dearest Devil Princess section has been made. It’s still a bit incomplete, but it’s slowly coming together.

We also uploaded the Murder Princess section a while back. There are links to manga artist Sekihiko Inui’s official website (operated by a fan) and blog (written by the manga artist himself). Both sites are in Japanese, but something you can look at.

And Coyote Ragtime Show section was uploaded at the same time as Murder Princess.

And I forgot to mention it when I listed the winners of the Broccoli Books Fan Club Mailing List winners, but we uploaded the February 2007 issue of BROCOMI. This month features a preview of Galaxy Angel II and two pages of Di Gi Charat 4-panel manga.

Happy reading!
