Hi, this is blogger Shiz.

We finally received our copies of My Dearest Devil Princess vol 2, so production staffer Yukiko is busy packing them up to send samples to reviewers.

This is the volume with the ecchi cover.
See this earlier blog entry, if you haven’t seen the cover yet.

Hopefully bookstores won’t be upset about it not being shrinkwrapped. But the content isn’t that ecchi… I swear!

Please look for it at your local bookstores.
Or buy from dot-anime.us

Hi this is Yukiko!

We received the color materials for My Dearest Devil Princess Volumes 3, 4 and 6. Oh, by the way, we have received all of the color materials for volume 5.

There were a few missing files for our color materials for volumes 3, 4 and 6, so we asked the staff in Japan to send us the missing files. We were missing a few pink layer files. Let me explain what “pink layer” is since Designer Chris explained in details.

When we get cover materials, we sometimes get files that look like inverted grayscale images along with our color files. These inverted images are used to print an extra ink to go along with the standard 4 color process. Designer Chris calls this “pink layer” since the color of the ink is usually pink. Without the pink layer a skin tone tends to look more yellow-ish, and that is not good. The pink layer tells the printer what parts of the image to add more or less pink ink.

In the US, we almost always print using only 4 colors, so Designer Chris takes the pink layer file and somehow combines it with the normal color file to make the color more closer to the Japanese cover. It’s not perfect, but it’s much better than yellow-ish skin! That’s why it’s important to also have the pink layer.

Oh ho!
I think we’re going to get blasted for the cover art of My Dearest Devil Princess vol 2.

What do you think?

We wanted a cover art that featured both Maki and Miki, so we requested this art. But when we requested it, we had only seen the black & white version that was in the Japanese manga. We didn’t think it would be so ecchi in color!

My Dearest Devil Princess vol 3 and vol 4 will probably use the original Japanese covers. Unless these alternate color art are popular.

I finally got around to doing the final look over of My Dearest Devil Princess vol 2.

A new devil girl Miki appears in this volume.
She’s pictured above.

I made a few requests for fixes, like making Maki’s mother (the queen of demons) sound less nice. I mean, she is the queen of demons afterall. She shouldn’t sound apologetic or… be caring!?

This volume is full of ecchi scenarios.
Is it going to be blasted again?

Manga Maniac Cafe posted their review of KAMUI vol 9.

About Heroes posted their review of My Dearest Devil Princess vol 1.

And a site called Completely Futile wrote a review of My Dearest Devil Princess vol 1 too.

Now, I think My Dearest Devil Princess vol 1 is cute.
Is it wrong to be ecchi?

Layout staffer Karie (name TBD) turned in the first draft of My Dearest Devil Princess vol 2.

Although we’re still wrapping up E’S vol 4 and Coyote Ragtime Show vol 2, so it might be a while before we get started on My Dearest Devil Princess vol 2 fixes just yet.
