I hope everyone had a lovely holiday weekend.

I was bored out of my mind with a long holiday. But that’s because I’m a workaholic. At least I’m not like marketing coordinator Jonathan who actually SHOWED UP to work on Dec 24 (I knew because I was checking work emails at home). But he did go out to play Rock Band with his friends afterwards. Thank goodness!

We received the Galaxy Angel II vol 3 dust jackets from our printer today.
Apparently they couldn’t print them in time to be shipped w/ the books, so they’re shipping separately.

Order Galaxy Angel II vol 3 at dot-anime.us, and get the dust jacket sent along w/ the book. No need to send in your questionnaires, for those who don’t want to cut up their books.

We received the samples for Galaxy Angel II vol 3.
Looks lovely!

They’re shipping a little earlier than we expected (we were expecting a big delay), so some of you might find them in your local bookstores in December.

Order from dot-anime.us and get 10% off.
Plus the dust jackets already come w/ the book.

It’s already December.
What happened? Didn’t we finish the summer conventions just a while ago? Geez… it’s a very urashima feeling. (For those who don’t get that last reference, please Wiki “Urashima Taro”)

I’ve been procrastinating blog entries all over.
Here. Over at our friend dot-anime. The Synch-Point one that I’ve long neglected that it moved away from my town, grumbling about the weeds that are spouting all over. You never gave me a framed photo anyway!!

To prove that the Broccoli Books staff have been working instead of just posting reviews, here are some things we’ve been working on:

Galaxy Angel II vol 3 proofs
We got them last week, but I was out due to some unexplained stomach pain, so I didn’t approve them til now. Sorry, the book might not come out in December. Please don’t hurt me, Galaxy Angel fans.

But Kahlua fans, rejoice. She adorns the cover, the back cover, the spine. Don’t forget to get the dust jacket of Kahlua and Tequila. It’s the original Japanese cover, not the “alternate” cover they made in Japan. That alternate cover image… we’ll have to find something to use it for. It’s an awfully cute image.

There’s an Aya Hirano interview in the back of the book too.

And the few hardcore Lily fans… she finally re-joins the group! And with all her weirdness. NG da~!!

Koi Cupid vol 1 translation
Translations are complete & we shipped the script off to re-writer Jason.

Production staffer Yukiko worked on the style guide for Koi Cupid, since each of the cupids have their unique way of talking. I’d like to see how re-writer Jason recreates the different nuances for Koi, Ai, and Ren. There is one thing we can’t re-create, though… they all speak in hiragana. Which gives the “childish” feel to their speech pattern.

Coyote Ragtime Show vol 3 layout
Has been turned in by layout staffer Knuckles. And freelancer Dee and production staffer Yukiko already made their stabs, so it’s in the hands of designer Chris. Who is busily updating the Holiday card list… instead of working on Coyote Ragtime Show vol 3. Grrr.

Speaking of holiday cards… this year’s Broccoli holiday cards features Rico.
Image will be posted soon.
When graphics assistant C-No makes me a JPG.

We also started getting all the materials for Title Do Re Mi and Title Merazoma.
I think Title Do Re Mi will be posted on dot-anime this week… if I don’t procrastinate on getting the all the approvals needed. Hafu~

Next time… images!

I went to the Bandai Visual offices for our almost-weekly meeting.

Most of the meeting topics lean towards the Synch-Point side of things, but I did get sample copies of Galaxy Angel Rune DVD vol 4.

The cover features Rico and Milfie, the Sakuraba sisters.
The DVD case is pink. Cute!

You can pre-order Galaxy Angel Rune DVD vol 4 at dot-anime.us and get a free Anise & Mint microfiber towel.

Now that I think about it… we should have put the Anise & Mint one with vol 2.
And Rico & Milfie one with vol 4.

It’s not like we didn’t know what characters were going on the cover, since we worked on the design. I wonder what happened?

Oh well.

I mentioned in the Aug 21 blog, but some of the data files for Galaxy Angel II vol 3 were missing screentone effects on some of the pages.

The comic dept sent us the correct files.
We sent them over to layout staffer Brian, so he can finish up the project.

dot-anime.us is giving away a Galaxy Angel I & II microfiber wash towel with a purchase of the Galaxy Angel Rune DVD vol 2.

Broccoli International generally doesn’t bring the microfiber towels over to the US because they’re pretty expensive. I guess wash towels are moderately priced (around 500yen), but according to our retail store staff, it’s tough to sell things like towels. Which is so strange, because if I like an anime series, I’d want something practical that I could use… instead of say, figures. But that could be the girl side of me talkin’. (I am female, despite what some of you “dear Mr. Yamashita” people think!)

Anyhoo, I’ve gotten a lot of sales pitches from the Broccoli Japan staff about the microfiber towels.

So here we go:
If you don’t know about microfiber towels, they’re made of super fine fibers where they can dig into your hair follicles. Well, that sounds gross. But they have microfiber finger towels that can clean your face real good. Shiseido sells them with a polar bear on the packaging.

But I digress.

Anyway, because of the fine fibers, you’re able to print on them like they’re made out of paper. So you get really crisp artwork on the towels… perfect for anime!

Plus there’s all the stuff about being 3 times absorbent, but able to dry twice as fast as a regular towel. Yada yada yada.

So the microfiber towel that comes with Galaxy Angel Rune DVD vol 2 features Rico and Milfie.

It’s a product that AnimeGamers won’t be bringing over, so it’s the only way to get the towel in the US.

Happy shopping!

Layout staffer Brian started working on the Galaxy Angel II vol 3 layout work.

Although we’ve already hit a few bumps on the road.

Some pages were missing in the CDR we received from Broccoli Japan.
Then layout staffer Brian noticed that some of the screentones were different on the digital files compared to the book.

So we just asked the Broccoli comics division to send us the correct files.

Layout staffer Brian used to be a graphics intern at our office.
I always thought he was a normal dude, but I keep finding out strange things from new staffer Jonathan. Apparently they’ve become meru-tomo (email friends) after they spent time during the convention season… and they’re geeking out about Fate/stay figures over email.

They hide themselves better these days.

Translation S@ki completed the translation of Galaxy Angel II vol 3.

The Japanese cover is Nano-Nano, but the US edition will have Kahlua & Tequila on the cover.
For the reason, please see blog entries on Galaxy Angel II vol 2.

What’s Galaxy Angel II vol 3 about?
Well, Nano-Nano gets a lot of frame time.
And there’s hints about the split personality of Kahlua/Tequila.

Tanoshimi da no~
