We received our shipment of Galaxy Angel II vol 2 today.

Looks very lovely.

Galaxy Angel II vol 2 goes on sale May 30, so look for this cover:

(c) BROCCOLI
(c) KANAN

We also received Galaxy Angel 3rd vol 3 copy from Broccoli Japan.
The cover for Galaxy Angel 3rd vol 2 is Kahlua, and Galaxy Angel 3rd vol 3 is Nano-Nano.

But the US cover is reversed, with Nano-Nano on the Galaxy Angel II vol 2 cover. It’s because when we selected images for the cover (back in Nov 2006), we didn’t know that Kahlua was going to be the theme for Japanese vol 2 (it hadn’t been released yet).

So the Japanese manga features Kahlua for the vol 2 table of contents page, so we swapped her out w/ Nano-Nano for the US manga.

Oh yes.
And the Galaxy Angel II vol 2 dust jacket will feature the Nano-Nano cover from the Japanese manga cover for vol 3. This is so the cover and the just jacket matches. Galaxy Angel II vol 3 will feature Kahlua on the cover & Kahlua and Tequila on the dust jacket.

A lot of projects have been moving along while I was away in Japan, so here’s a big ol’ recap of what’s been brewing at the Broccoli Books offices.

KAMUI vol 7 proofs arrived. Editor Dee had sent me the photos, but I didn’t have time to upload them in Japan. Maybe next week.
KAMUI vol 7 goes on sale on May 16, 2007.

Galaxy Angel II vol 2 has been sent to be printed. Galaxy Angel II vol 2 goes on sale on May 30, 2007.

We got the layout of Kon Kon Kokon vol 1 from layout staffer Knuckles, and editor Dee has gone through a few edits already. Designer Chris also worked on all the extra pages, including the youkai (monster) encyclopedia, so editor Dee gave me a big packet to look over this weekend.

Coyote Ragtime Show vol 1 and Delivery Cupid are currently being laid out.

And we really need to reprint Disgaea soon. I want to add extra pages, but I haven’t informed editor Dee or designer Chris about it yet. It must suck to have a kimagure managing editor.

I mentioned this before, but sales manager Ardith has an automatic search for any and all blogs related to Broccoli Books titles.

So she found this new blog written by a librarian, who talked about manga ratings & how she agrees or disagrees w/ them.

Librarian Ship: S.S. Gliteratti - Manga Rating

Galaxy Angel is mentioned in the blog.
We gave Galaxy Angel a suggested reading age of 13 and up.

And she more or less agrees w/ the rating, except for one “naked Barbie” in vol 5.

I didn’t think Kanan would have drawn a fully naked girl in Galaxy Angel, so I dug around. The page mentioned (Galaxy Angel vol 5, pg 71-72) has Forte in a bathing suit.

Hmm.
I thought there were more questionable pages than Forte in a bathing suit.
But I’m not going to point them out.

Galaxy Angel doesn’t have nudity, though.
It has a lot to do w/ the fact that the staff of Broccoli Japan’s comic department are mostly female (used to be 100% female, but the new manager KenKen-san is a guy), and they don’t like nude scenes. Or anything too ecchi.

It’s that thin, thin line between what’s considered kawaii & moe.
Although I often use moe to refer to cute things these days.

Basu Gasu Bakuhatsu recently reviewed the following:

Galaxy Angel vol 1 review

Galaxy Angel vol 2 review

Well, we sent him a copy of Galaxy Angel Beta only to find out that he never read the original series, so he didn’t know what was going on. Our bad.
