[...] Synch-Point reports on its blog that it is helping Bandai Visual with the translation of bonus material for the upcoming Gunbuster DVD set and website. Bandai Visual asked them to help with the Gunbuster Perfect Guidebook, which, according to the blog, “talks about the different manga, anime, novels and movies Gunbuster received influences and inspirations from. ie.
I'm ecstatic over this release, i hope we get all the same extras as the R2 version. I would also be happy to pay more than $65 RRP.

It will probably be better than the old translation, but it's just that sometimes when they decide that they're going to do the translation on the Japanese side of things and with the Japanese producers, you get bad things like Pilot Candidate or the first set of Zeta Gundam subtitles. Not saying that they don't know English well enough, but that they just might not understand or realise what people in Region 1 actually want from their subtitles.

Well, since these are new subtitles, they will be nothing like the old Streamline release, they'll be more accurate.

So GunBuster 1 was the secret project, for now ;).

It's good that you're giving them advice and stuff for creating a better product. Some people may be a bit worried that the new translation is being supervised by the original creators, since a few of the times this was done before the result turned out not very good, so it would be great if you could tell them that most people really want literal translations, as far away from "dubtitles" and with as little slang etc. as possible.
