Happy designing! We’ve been making FLCL t-shirts for 4 years. And now we got the license to make Gunbuster t-shirts! We have something planned for the Gunbuster t-shirt with Bandai Visual. Designer Chris went to pick up the 2007 calendar mock-up covers from our printer today. We have a lot of calendars lined up for 2007. And one is somewhat-related-to-Broccoli title. And one is an almost-related-to-Broccoli title. Then there’s a sales-manager-Ardith-giggled-with-excitement title. And a few more. Speaking of merchandising… we’ve been receiving several pre-production samples from MythWear. We like to ask our staff for opinions on products being made (by us or other companies). Graphics assistant Ryan & production intern Krystal really liked the red FLCL messenger bag featuring Haruko on her Vespa. Of course production intern Krystal came into her interview w/ a Nerv MythWear bag, so she’s an ideal market research-ee. We also received a pre-production sample of the FLCL wallet, using designer Chris’ favorite FLCL image — Medical Mechanica. It’s a dark-grey wallet w/ black printing… so it’s really simple, but really cool. There are a few more FLCL designs in the works. And then there are Di Gi Charat messenger bags too. Some are embroidered, some are silk-screened. Puchiko lovers should be happy w/ the selection of Puchiko bags that will be available. All the bags should be coming out real soon. Today was a full day of *****-ing. But I have a lot of quotes that can be used for a commentary track. Tomorrow is another full day *****-ing. Then I’m off to Japan on the 16th to attend the Osaka Gift Show (merchandising convention), meetings w/ publishers, and for the Tokyo International Anime Fair. I’ll keep blogging while I’m in Japan, even though it won’t have much to do w/ actual production. Unless I get updates from Fusako, the director of Di Gi Charat the Movie & Leave it to Piyoko, and Michael, the director of Aquarian Age the Movie. |
